The Editor
Siani Johnson, a native of Kalamazoo MI, is a three time Telly award winning film editor and an Emmy Award winner. Her professional journey began after receiving her MFA in Film and Digital Technology from Chatham University to being lead editor for a feature film, This Sucks, that won the Audience Choice Award at the Golden State Film Festival.
In addition to her editing achievements, Siani is actively involved in the nonprofit sector, dedicating her expertise as an editor to Black Girls Film Camp (BGFC). BGFC is a free national program dedicated to helping teenage Black girls in creating their own short films.
Currently, Siani is working on a scripted episodic titled Life with Friends and recently wrapped a short film titled Her voice: Charlayne Hunter-Gault. This film details the experience of the first Black student admitted to the UGA Grady School of Journalism. The film is a hybrid blending narrative and documentary storytelling for a more powerful experience.
When Siani isn’t editing you can find her spending time with her dogs or reading a good book.
